Young Economists Competition: NBG Announcing Winners
Young Economists Competition, an educational project of the National Bank of Georgia, is designed to discover talented generation and offer career opportunities (internship program). Our competition is a good opportunity for talented students in terms of promoting career development as well.
The competition will be held on an annual basis. We are pleased to present this year’s winners: Nino Maghradze and Ketevan Maghradze.
To meet the requirement of the competition, the participants were assigned to submit papers in monetary policy and financial stability. The successful candidates presented research papers on current world economic trends and global challenges. The paper by Nino Maghradze, titled Correlation of Lending to the Economy and Key Macroeconomic Factors Affecting It Both Before and After the Covid-19 Pandemic, focused on financial stability and the way the pandemic affected these processes. The work by Ketevan Maghradze - Comparison of Small Open Economies, Including Georgia, in Terms of Monetary Policy Operating Framework - presented the author’s vision/analysis of the monetary policy operating framework of small open economies.
According to the terms of the competition, Young Economists will be invited for a three-month paid internship program at the National Bank of Georgia. They will have the opportunity to attend important meetings, enhance their knowledge and obtain advice from the National Bank professionals. With their mentorship, the successful candidates will be able to clearly formulate the purpose and objectives of their master thesis. Also, the winners will be invited to spend one full work day with the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, attend Governor’s business meetings and participate in all planned events. The National Bank of Georgia will shoot a video profile of both winners, where they will talk about their papers.
