The National Bank of Georgia is solely entitled to make GEL banknotes and coins for circulation, collection and/or other purposes and to issue them on the territory of Georgia (Article 35, Organic Law of Georgia on the National Bank of Georgia).
Collectible products issued by the National Bank are available for buyers at the cash desk of the Cash Center of the NBG Department for Cash Transactions and Cash Circulation (address: 72, Kakheti Highway, Tbilisi, Georgia). Payment can be made by both cash and non-cash (bank plastic cards, bank transfers) and also through the online store.
The price of products issued by the National Bank of Georgia that are available for sale includes:
- For collectible currency - nominal value, costs for their production and supply and commission fee.
- For investment coins - the market value of the gold used for the coin (The market price is calculated according to an ounce price of gold published on the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) website the previous afternoon - at 15:00 London time, and the official NBG exchange rate of the US dollar against the lari.); and commission fee.
- For gold bars - the cost of their production and supply and commission fee.
The National Bank of Georgia sells collector products in compliance with the terms and conditions set under the Regulation on the Sale of GEL Banknotes/Coins, Gold Bars and Numismatic Valuables approved by the Board of the National Bank of Georgia.
