The winners of the 2025 Best Annual Report and Transparency Award (BARTA) were announced at the seventh BARTA awards ceremony.

The BARTA Award aims to encourage companies to adopt best practices, thereby contributing to the development of a more transparent and competitive business environment.

This year’s event was organized by the BARTA Committee, which is composed of representatives of the National Bank of Georgia, the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia, the Service for Accounting, Reporting and Auditing Supervision, and the Accounting Reform Stakeholders’ Foundation. The event was supported by the World Bank and the Georgian Business Association.

In her address at the award ceremony, the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, noted that over the years the competition has demonstrated that transparency is not merely a formal requirement.

“It is a choice that defines a company’s reputation, resilience, and long-term success. It is encouraging to see that the depth and quality of submitted reports continue to improve year after year. A high-quality annual report provides investors and the public not only with a financial overview, but also answers key questions about how a company is governed, how it assesses risks, how it views the future, and how it recognizes its responsibilities toward the environment and society,” said Natia Turnava.

The Governor of the National Bank of Georgia expressed special appreciation to the World Bank and the European Union, whose support enabled the introduction of this initiative in Georgia and who have made a significant contribution to strengthening the competition institutionally.

Addresses were also delivered at the ceremony by Tsotne Kavlashvili, Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia; David Onoprishvili, Head of the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia; and Roland Pryce, Regional Director of the World Bank for the South Caucasus.

As part of the event, a panel discussion titled “Beyond Compliance: Enhancing the Quality of Corporate Reporting in Governance and Sustainability” was held, featuring the participation of Ekaterine Mikabadze, First Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia.

The BARTA program operates with the aim of supporting improvements in accounting, auditing, and sustainability reporting. The development of the project is supported by the World Bank’s Centre for Financial Reporting Reform and Sustainability, based in Vienna. The co-financiers include the Austrian Ministry of Finance, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, and the Austrian Development Agency.

The competition was established in 2019 within the framework of the joint European Union and World Bank project “Financial Inclusion and Accountability.”
