The President of the National Bank of Georgia Delivered a Speech at the Meeting of the Club of Governors of Central Banks of the Black Sea Balkans and Central Asia

The President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze participated in the Fourteenth Meeting of the Club of Governors of Central Banks of the Black sea, Balkans and Central Asia, which was held in Moscow on November 11-12.
Professor Otmar Issing, the Member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank gave a report on the “Monetary Policy: Future Challenge for Regulatory Bodies”. Second speaker was Sir Edward George, the former Governor of the Bank of England – “Experience of a Person, who has been working at the central bank for his life time”. There was a discussion after the keynote speeches, which was opened by Sergei Ignatiev, Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia.
Roman Gotsiridze, the President of the National Bank of Georgia delivered a speech in the face of his foreign colleagues. His report was on: “Monetary Policy of the National Bank of Georgia: its Aims and Challenges in a New Reality”.
At the meeting of the governors of the banks, club members also resolved an organizational issue. Stanley Fischer, the Governor of the Central Bank of Israel is a plenipotentiary member of the Club of Governors of Central Banks of the Black sea, Balkans and Central Asia. Stanley Fischer has been the Governor of the Central Bank of Israel since May 2005. In different times he was the First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Vice-President of the World Bank and the President of the huge financial corporation of “Citigroup International”.
During the current year this is a second Meeting of the Club of Governors of Central Banks of Asia, Balkans and the Black sea, which is held in Russia. The 13th Meeting was held in St-Petersburg on May 27-28.
The members of the above-mentioned club are: Georgia, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Armenia, Greece, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Israel.
