Certificates were issued to 20 participants of the seminar on “Credit Assessment and Management” held at the National Bank of Georgia. The representatives of all commercial banks operating in Georgia and the National Bank of Georgia were invited to the seminar.   The seminar was organized by the Luxemburg Financial Technology Transfer Agency and the National Bank of Georgia. The Agency finances the similar seminars in transitional countries on the basis of the technical assistance program. The aforementioned seminar is also financed from the Luxemburg side.   The seminar started on October 23 and lasted three days. The seminar was conducted by the expert of the same agency Mr. André Taymans.   The Belgian expert reviewed the principles of management of risk and capital by commercial banks, the issues of financial management on the whole; the risk and profitability assessment mechanisms in commercial banks while issuing a credit and the necessity of grounding the issuance or non-issuance of a credit. He also touched the issue of the improvement of the activities of commercial banks, in particular, dealing with problem loans by financial and operational restructuring, the development of strategy   and organization of banking activity to conduct the operations faster, more qualitatively and at lower expenses.    Generally, the Luxemburg and so- called Benelux countries are showing a great interest in the current processes in Georgia, including the situation in banking sector. The mentioned seminar was held just within the framework of Luxemburg government program.   Besides that, three-week training-seminars for banking specialists are envisaged to be conducted in the so-called summer school of Luxemburg under the technical assistance program of the Financial Technology Transfer Agency.
