Beginning December 3, 2010 a person doing a transfer to a commercial bank or the treasury services  of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia (State Treasury)  should indicate a new code of the relevant bank or the treasury in the payment order. At the same time, numerous codes of the branches of the commercial banks will be cancelled. Commercial banks and their branches will bear a single code.

At the beginning the payment orders bearing the old bank codes will not be rejected by the commercial banks. The banks themselves will correct them with the new codes.
