The Central Bank of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Has Changed Its Name
13 May, 2005
At the resolution of the Council of the National Bank of Georgia May 13, the Regulation on the Branches of the National Bank of Georgia was amended to change the name of the Central Bank of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara into the Batumi branch of the National Bank of Georgia. The NBG Council Secretary Guram Abashidze stated that the change of the name of the Central Bank of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara (which was a functionally a National Bank branch) was conditioned by the fact that the region was re-integrated into the jurisdiction of the central authorities of Georgia. Accordingly, this legal case was adjusted, and the Batumi branch of the National Bank of Georgia, as a structural unit of the NBG, will continue functioning along with other regional branches.Aslan Makhadze was appointed a director of the Batumi branch of the National Bank a week ago. At the decision of the Council of the National Bank of Georgia, like Adjara, the name of the Central Bank of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia was changed into the Sukhumi branch of the National Bank.
