Teimuraz Khomeriki Participates in Economic Forum in Poland
Teimuraz Khomeriki, a member of the National Bank of Georgia’s Council, attended the 33rd Economic Forum in Karpacz, Poland.
During a panel at the forum, Khomerik highlighted the National Bank’s efforts to implement innovative systems in Georgia. He discussed the projects for the digital lari and the instant payments system, which aim not only to build a flexible payment infrastructure but also to foster the development of innovative financial products, enable programmatic financial resource management, and facilitate business operations through smart contracts.
At the panel discussion titled “Europe Without Cash,” Khomerik emphasized that Georgia has a well-developed digital payments infrastructure. He noted the significant increase in the use of cashless payments across the country.
“Digital payment systems hold immense potential. Their implementation will support the development of innovative business models that benefit society, improve the efficiency of financial intermediation, facilitate the introduction of new financial products, and ensure broader financial inclusion,” Khomerik said.
The Karpacz Economic Forum is the largest and most influential conference in Central and Eastern Europe. For 33 years, it has provided a platform for the exchange of political, economic, and social views, attracting participants from over 60 countries worldwide.
