The National Bank of Georgia continues to train teachers within the framework of the School Bank project. A two-day training for teachers held at the National Bank of Georgia on October 29 and 30 was attended by public and private school teachers invited from different regions of Georgia.

The School Bank program developed by the National Bank of Georgia and Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) has 15 classes and is designed to raise the level of financial education of VII-IX graders. Students are offered fun activities and easy language to guide them through key topics of financial education such as saving and budgeting, banking products, reasonable borrowing, consumer rights and responsibilities and financial security.

The teacher training covered all the topics and active methods of teaching included in the School Bank handbook. The teachers will share the newly acquired knowledge with their schools as they give 15 lessons to their students. The training participants were given training material and a certificate of participation. Any teacher was eligible to enroll in the training.

"Teachers have an important role in raising the financial education of the young generation, and so the NBG is trying to support building and enhancing their capacity. The School Bank training is one of the illustrations of this goal. We hope that the teachers will successfully share the knowledge gained during the training with their students," said Lasha Gzirishvili, Head of the Consumer Rights Protection and Financial Education Department of the National Bank of Georgia.
