Strategy of the Development of the Banking System of Georgia was Discussed at the National Bank of Georgia

Debates on the four-year strategy of the development of the banking system of Georgia were held at the National Bank of Georgia. The President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze and the Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund in Georgia Robert Christiansen attended the above-mentioned event.
The document of the development of the banking system of Georgia sets eight principal aims: increase of the level of financial intermediaries and the effectiveness of the banking sector; increase of confidence in the banking sector of Georgia; improvement of the quality of corporate management within the banking sector; avoiding usage of commercial banks for the unfair commercial activities and illegal abusive practice; facilitating establishment of competitive environment and increase of the transparency of credit organizations; harmonization of the banking legislation of Georgia with the legislation of the European Union; development of the banking business infrastructure.
The final version of the strategy of the development of the banking system of Georgia will be ready by the end of the year of 2005.
