Representatives of Thomson Reuters are visiting the National Bank of Georgia
On February 6-7, the representatives of Thomson Reuters Corporation, the Multinational Media and Information Firm, visited the National Bank of Georgia.
Thomson Reuters holds a two-day workshop on “The World Financial Markets: Risks and Opportunities” for the Georgian Companies and Commercial banks.
Thomson Reuters will overview the international markets, discuss how to use the money market instruments in the liquidity management process and the management of foreign exchange and interest rate risks through derivatives on the international markets. The fixed income market and in particular, the bonds on primary and secondary market will be discussed as well. The credit quality of obligations and analysis of yield curve and portfolio hedging: options and futures hedging will be discussed during the workshop. The National Bank will introduce the monetary policy strategy and operations to the participants. Opportunities and basic procedures for liquidity and foreign exchange risk management on the internal markets will be discussed as well.

Our goal is to help the market participants to deal with exchange rate (market) and liquidity risks. This in its own term facilitates the macroeconomic stability and country’s economic growth. We familiarized participants with monetary policy directions of the NBG, for the purpose of developing sound long term expectations in order to use existing opportunities maximally and efficiently. We also introduced the existing and expected novelties in banking sector, such as the retail certificates of deposit and floating rate notes”, - Mr. Mestvirishvili, Vice-Governor of NBG stated.
