Representatives of the National Bank of Georgia shared their experience with the Central Bank of Azerbaijan on the issuance of international financial institutions’ bonds in the local market
Employees of the Financial Markets and Securities Market Supervision Departments of the National Bank of Georgia visited Baku at the invitation of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the visit was to share knowledge and experience with Azerbaijani colleagues regarding the legal and technical aspects of issuing bonds denominated in local currency by international financial institutions.
The visit was held within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year between the National Bank of Georgia and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. The Memorandum provides for cooperation between the two institutions in the areas of financial sector regulation and supervision, including securities markets, financial technologies, monetary policy, and payment systems. It also aims to promote experience sharing and information exchange between the parties on the basis of mutual support.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Executive Director of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan expressed gratitude to the NBG delegation for sharing their experience. The parties reaffirmed their willingness to continue cooperation in a similar format in the future.
The National Bank of Georgia was represented at the meeting by David Abesadze, Head of the Securities Market Supervision Department, and Irakli Kvirkvelia, Chief Specialist of the Financial Markets Department.
