President of the National Bank of Georgia Conducted Meetings at the International Monetary Fund

Roman Gotsiridze, the President of the National Bank of Georgia is continuing his visit in Washington D.C. USA. Within the framework of this visit a meeting with Jereon Kremers IMF Executive Director was held. Mr. Gotsiridze thanked Mr. Jereon Kremers for the support rendered to Georgia during the meeting of the Board of Executive Directors. During the above-mentioned meeting the Board took the decision to disburse a tranche in the amount of 20,4 mln usd within the scope of PRGF program.
Mr. Gorsiridze and Mr. Jereon Kremers touched the document worked out at the National Bank of Georgia - “Strategy of the Development of the Banking System in Georgia for the years of 2006-2009“ presentation of which was held at NBG recently. It was stressed, that this strategic document worked out at NBG will promote the macroeconomic stabilization and further strengthening of the banking system in the country. Special attention was paid to some changes in the banking legislation, which are being considered at the Parliament of Georgia at present.
Parties spoke about the ban of the import of Georgian and Moldovan wines in Russia. Jereon Kremers blamed Russia for its attempt to impose an economic blockade.
President Gotsiridze met with Henk Bouwer, Executive Director of the National Bank of Netherlands. Parties discussed the following issues: sharing the Netherlands National Bank’s experience with NBG during the process of establishing long-term macroeconomic and monetary models; improvement of the cash circulation and cash operations organization in Georgia and conducting consultations in this regard. To achieve this goal the Netherlands Government Agency in Georgia - FMO plans to issue a grant for the building of a new cash center.
