
Natia Turnava Meets Subir Lall, Deputy Director of IMF Middle East and Central Asia Department
Natia Turnava, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), held a meeting with Subir Lall, Deputy Director of the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Middle East and Central Asia Department.
Discussions centered on regional cooperation prospects, with particular emphasis on the annual meeting of the Steering Committee of the IMF’s Regional Capacity Development Center for the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia (CCAMTAC), which Georgia is hosting this year in its capacity as chair country.
Subir Lall noted that this is a highly important annual meeting and expressed his pleasure that Georgia is the chair country of the CCAMTAC Steering Committee this year. He added that CCAMTAC is a crucial pillar for the IMF's engagement with the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia region.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of the IMF’s ongoing support. Natia Turnava noted that the National Bank of Georgia values educational initiatives that are aligned with market needs and foster professional development across the region. In this regard, she pointed to the "Educational Space Project"a - centralized platform created to advance these goals-as a tangible demonstration of this commitment.
The discussion also included a review of CCAMTAC’s recent activities and an exchange on the work program for the coming year.
The meeting was also attended by Ekaterine Mikabadze, First Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, and Andrew Jewell, IMF Resident Representative in Georgia.
CCAMTAC is a collaborative initiative between the IMF and nine member countries-Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan-focused on enhancing the region’s economic capacity.
