National Bank of Georgia Begins Publishing Green Loan Data
The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has launched the public disclosure of data on green loans aligned with the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy. The initiative aims to enhance transparency, credibility, and accessibility of information on green financial products.
The Sustainable Finance Taxonomy was published by the National Bank in 2022 with the involvement of various local and international stakeholders, while the Regulation on the Classification and Reporting of Loans in accordance with the Taxonomy entered into force in January 2023. Since then, banks have been required to apply a unified definition of green loans and submit monthly reports to the NBG on Taxonomy-aligned green lending.
The Green Loan Dashboard presents Taxonomy-aligned green loans by sector, their evolution over time, and the overall structure of the green loan portfolio. The data are collected through the Green Loan Monthly Reporting Form and are fully aligned with the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy Regulation.
The Taxonomy introduced by the NBG provides a unified, clear, and reliable framework for identifying and reporting green financial products. The new dashboard significantly improves public access to information on green loans for both market participants and the broader public.
The Green Loan Dashboard was developed as part of the implementation of the new Sustainable Finance Roadmap and will be updated on a monthly basis.
