Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, is participating in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, together with the Georgian delegation.
The delegation includes the Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili; Vice Governors of the National Bank of Georgia, Ekaterine Mikabadze and Ekaterine Galdava; Deputy Minister of Finance, Ekaterine Guntsadze; and Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Vakhtang Tsintsadze.
During the week-long visit, Natia Turnava will hold meetings with Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF; Jihad Azour, Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department; and Alejandro Hajdenberg, IMF Mission Chief for Georgia.
The NBG Governor will also meet Antonella Bassani, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, and Eugene Rhuggenaath, Executive Director of the World Bank.
In addition, within the framework of bilateral cooperation, Natia Turnava will meet with Sanjay Malhotra, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
As part of the visit, meetings are also planned with representatives of major U.S. investment institutions — J.P. Morgan, Citibank, and Bank of America — where Natia Turnava will deliver a presentation on Georgia’s investment potential and macroeconomic environment before representatives of large international investment funds and institutional investors.
During her visit to the United States, the NBG Governor will also take part in a high-level roundtable discussion organized by the IMF, as well as a meeting arranged for central bank governors and finance ministers from the Caucasus and Central Asia region.
The Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank bring together the Governors and Alternate Governors of both institutions, along with representatives from the financial sectors of nearly all countries worldwide. Participants discuss globally significant topics, including prospects for the world economy, poverty reduction, economic development, aid effectiveness, cybersecurity, and financial technologies.
