Natia Turnava Participates in a Conference Organized by the Central Bank of Hungary
The Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, is participating in the Lámfalussy Conference, hosted annually by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (Central Bank of Hungary). This year’s event is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Hungarian Central Bank. The 10th anniversary conference, themed “The Age of Geoeconomics: Evolution of Central Banking,” was opened by Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank; Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary; György Matolcsy, Governor of the Central Bank of Hungary; and Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University.
The event included panel discussions where high-ranking guests deliberated on issues related to monetary policy. During the conference, Natia Turnava held meetings with the heads of central banks from Central and Eastern European countries, as well as with the leadership of the Central Bank of Hungary.
“We had quite productive business discussions. We talked about geopolitical challenges, exchanged views on inflation management, reviewed the macroeconomic situation in various countries, and discussed the role of central banks in normalizing inflation,” Natia Turnava stated.
She also mentioned having the opportunity to engage in discussions with academic circles and renowned economists, including Professor Jeffrey Sachs, a well-known American economist.
