
Natia Turnava Meets with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Georgia
Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, met with Petr Kubernát, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Georgia.
The parties talked about the long-standing relationship between Georgia and the Czech Republic and the successful cooperation between the central banks of the two countries. Natia Turnava personally thanked Petr Kubernát for the support of the Czech Republic on Georgia's path of European integration, noting that full membership of the European Union is Georgia's main goal.
Acting Governor of the NBG informed the Czech Ambassador about the current situation and ongoing projects in the Georgian financial sector. She also spoke about Georgia's prospects for becoming a fintech hub in the region and introduced the projects planned for the development of financial technology markets, including the digital GEL project and the successful implementation of the Open Banking standard. On his part, Petr Kubernát underscored Georgia’s advanced fintech position.
At the meeting, the parties reviewed the current Capacity Development Program with the Czech National Bank, highlighted its importance and the need to continue it in the future. The program involves conducting trainings, workshops and seminars.
Importantly, the Czech partners, together with the International Monetary Fund and the EBRD, assisted Georgia in developing the monetary policy framework, as well as in ensuring the compliance of the financial and economic systems with European standards.
