
Natia Turnava Meets with Representatives of Tether
The Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Natia Turnava, met with Giancarlo Devasini, founder of the world’s largest blockchain-based platform Tether, as well as the company’s CEO Paolo Ardoino and Vice President Marco Dal Lago.
The meeting was also attended by NBG Vice Governor Nino Jeladze and Executive Director Beka Dochviri.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the National Bank of Georgia is actively working to create a regulatory environment that supports the development of financial technologies and attracts investment.
Natia Turnava introduced the Tether representatives to the modern regulatory framework developed by the NBG for the virtual asset sector. Based on international best practices, the framework ensures the transparent and stable development of the sector and represents the first regulatory framework of its kind in the region. Its objective is to support the issuance of stable virtual assets in Georgia within a safe, transparent, and reliable environment.
Tether, a global technology leader with assets of up to USD 200 billion, held a presentation in Georgia today on its activities and ongoing projects.
