Natia Turnava Meets with Jihad Azour, IMF’s Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department
Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, and Vice Governor Archil Mestvirishvili met with Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the International Monetary Fund.
The meeting reviewed the economic stance of the region and underlying challenges. Natia Turnava informed Jihad Azour about the macroeconomic trends of Georgia and the reforms of the NBG. The partners also reviewed the progress of the Fund-supported economic program of Georgia. It was noted that the program contributes to the strengthening of macroeconomic stability in Georgia. Attention was focused on the NBG’s role in ensuring the stability of the financial sector of Georgia.
Within the framework of the visit, Natia Turnava participated in the 30th anniversary event of the dram, national currency of Armenia. The high-level symposium was organized by the Central Bank of Armenia and the Bretton Woods Committee in Dilijan. Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia also held introductory meetings with the governors of the central banks of Armenia and Uzbekistan.
