Natia Turnava - Georgia Participates in EU Economic and Financial Dialogue for the First Time as a Candidate Country
Natia Turnava - "Georgia, as a candidate country, participated in the economic and financial dialogue of the European Union for the first time this year, which gave us the opportunity to share our country's economic and financial achievements with representatives of the European Union, the European Central Bank, and our colleagues from other candidate countries," said Natia Turnava, Acting President of the National Bank of Georgia, in Brussels after the conclusion of the economic and financial dialogue of the European Union.
"At the beginning of 2024, the government of Georgia presented a reform plan aimed at helping us achieve full membership in the European Union. The National Bank is actively cooperating with the European Central Bank on the financial aspects of these reforms and our monetary policy. It is worth noting that we have made significant progress in this area," she added.
This year's dialogue included participation from three EU countries: Belgium, the current chairman of the Council of the European Union; Hungary; and Poland, the future chairman. The meeting was chaired by Vincent van Peteghem, Vice Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Belgium.
During the dialogue, the Council approved a joint conclusion outlining the economic development and effective monetary policies of the participating countries, including Georgia.
Georgia's Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili, Deputy Minister of Finance, Ekaterine Guntsadze, and Head of the International Relations Department of SEB, Giorgi Edilashvili, also participated in the dialogue.
