The Tbilisi Finance Summit was officially opened today, October 23, at the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre. The summit is being held for the first time this year within the framework of the Silk Road Forum. The event was opened by the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava.

The audience was also addressed by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili.

“Today, Georgia is hosting a large-scale international event for the first time – the Tbilisi Finance Summit. I am pleased that the event brings together not only Georgia’s top government officials but also heads of central banks from across the region, international investors, representatives of financial institutions, and leaders of the fintech industry. It is symbolic that the Tbilisi Finance Summit is being held in parallel with the Silk Road International Forum, as Georgia has already established itself as a strong regional hub in trade, transport, and energy. This positions our country as a key player in enhancing connectivity between Europe and Asia. Now, there is a clear need and all the prerequisites for Georgia to develop into an equally strong financial hub,” - said Natia Turnava.

According to her, one of the co-organizers of the Tbilisi Finance Summit is the Global Finance and Technology Network (GFTN), a leading international network in the field of financial technologies that brings together financial institutions, fintech companies, and investors from Europe and Asia.

“I am delighted that Georgia is now joining this leading global platform,” - stated the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia.
