
Natia Turnava and Lasha Khutsishvili Meet with the World Bank Vice President and Executive Director for Europe and Central Asia
Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Natia Turnava and Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili held a working meeting in Washington with Antonella Bassani, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, and Eugene Rhuggenaath, Executive Director of the World Bank, within the framework of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings.
During the meeting, Governor Turnava presented the monetary policy priorities of the National Bank of Georgia to the World Bank Vice President and Executive Director. She also emphasized the long-standing cooperation between the World Bank and the NBG across various significant projects.
“We highly value the strong partnership between our institutions. Over the years, the National Bank of Georgia, in close cooperation with the World Bank, has implemented numerous initiatives. At present, several important joint projects are underway between the NBG and the World Bank. With the Bank’s support, the NBG is actively working on the implementation of an instant payments system, which is scheduled to become operational by the end of 2026,” noted Governor Turnava.
The meeting was also attended by Rolande Pryce, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus.
Participants from the Georgian side included Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vakhtang Tsintsadze, Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze, and Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States, Tamar Taliashvili.
