Natia Turnava Advances Georgia's SEPA Membership in Meeting with Central Bank of Poland’s First Deputy Governor

Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, met with Marta Kightley, First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Poland, to discuss Georgia’s progress in joining the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). During the meeting, both parties emphasized the strong cooperation between their central banks and explored new initiatives for further collaboration.


Turnava expressed her appreciation for Poland’s crucial support during Georgia’s SEPA preparation phase, and requested Kightley's continued assistance to expedite the process. The discussion also touched on the significant role Poland has played over the years in enhancing the supervisory functions of the National Bank of Georgia.


In addition to SEPA-related matters, the meeting addressed the broader economic situation in the region, along with challenges and opportunities in the financial sector. To strengthen ties and accelerate progress, the parties agreed to begin work on a memorandum of cooperation.


The meeting between Natia Turnava and Marta Kightley took place during events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Central Bank of Poland.
