Natia Turnava: A Diverse and Equitable Financial Sector Will Strengthen Our Economy and Drive Sustainability

Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, spoke at the "Accountants Summit 2024 - Strong Women in Finance," addressing both opportunities and challenges for women leaders in finance.


In her speech, Turnava emphasized the NBG’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment, both within the organization and in its supervisory role across the financial sector. She highlighted strategic regulations and initiatives designed to support and empower women in finance.


"The measures taken by the National Bank of Georgia aim to build a safe and equitable environment where talent, potential, and hard work are recognized, regardless of gender. Through targeted regulations, we support the development of professionalism and promote inclusive leadership, helping to dismantle existing barriers and open doors for women leaders. We believe that a diverse and equitable financial sector will not only strengthen our economy but also drive innovation and sustainability across all levels," noted Natia Turnava.


Turnava added that the National Bank of Georgia remains committed to aligning with international best practices, advancing inclusivity across the sector.


The "Accountants’ Summit 2024 - Strong Women in Finance" was co-organized by the Standing Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality and the Union of Accountants. The event also included participation from Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Gender Equality Council Chair Nino Tsilosani, along with Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze.
