Mr. Roman Gotsiridze Sends a Letter to His Ukrainian Colleague Regarding the Issuance of Jubilee Coin with the Portrait of David Guramishvili

The President of the National Bank of Georgia, Mr. Roman Gotsiridze, welcomes putting into circulation jubilee coin of 2 grivna denomination by the National Bank of Ukraine dedicated to the 300th anniversary of David Guramishvili. In the letter to his colleague the President of the National Bank of Georgia evaluated this fact as another positive step confirming the friendly relations between Georgia and Ukraine.    The obverse of the coin depicts two national ornaments - Georgian and Ukrainian; above there is a semicircular  inscription ”Ukraine” and “the State Emblem of Ukraine”, beneath  - inscription “2 grivna” and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.   The reverse of the coin features the portrait of David Guramishvili in profile against the background of the hilly Georgian landscape. On the peak of one of its mountains a temple is located and to the left and right there is a semicircular inscription in Ukrainian and Georgian languages: “David Guramishvili”, beneath  -  dates of birth and  death : 1705-1792.   Issue limit is 3 000.   An outstanding  Georgian  poet David Guramishvili settled down in Mirhorod in Ukraine in 1760 where he lived until he died.   Ukraine was the country where the poet wrote his well-known work “Davitiani”.
