Money Transfers in June

In June 2009 the volume of money transfers from abroad constituted 71.9 million USD, which is 10.2 million USD or 16.7 percent more than the same amount for previous month and 12.4 million USD or 14.7 percent less than the same figure for June 2008. The decrease of overall volume of remittances for a year is mainly due to their decrease from Russia by 15.3 million USD or 28.6 percent. The volume of remittances also decreased for Ukraine (1.7 million USD or 24.5 percent decrease), Armenia (1.5 million USD or 63.1 percent decrease), UK (0.2 million USD or 24.6 percent decrease), as well as for some other countries.

 

89.0 percent of total money transfers from abroad fall on those eight big donor countries, from which the volume of such transfers exceeded 1 million USD in June. It is noteworthy that in June of the past year the share of these 8 countries constituted 89.5 percent of the total volume of money transfers.

In June 2009 6.1 million USD were transferred from Georgia, while in June 2008 this figure amounted to 7.5 million USD. The volume of money transfers from Georgia decreased for Russia (by 0.8 million USD or 23.3 percent), as well as for some other countries.
