Archil Mestvirishvili, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, and Vice Governor Nikoloz Gagua held a working meeting with representatives of the European Business Association.

The NBG representatives spoke at length about the macroeconomic trends of the country and the challenges in the region. The partners also reviewed global challenges that the central banks of many countries are facing today. Archil Mestvirishvili pinpointed the NBG actions to minimize currency risk.

"In the floating exchange rate regime and the reality of changing interest rates, it is important to be able to reduce the effect of these risks on financial business. Hedging instruments come in handy, along with other techniques. The hedging market is rapidly evolving, increasing the availability of appropriate instruments and lowering their cost. The NBG promotes the dissemination of relevant knowledge in both the financial and corporate sectors, as more companies are using these tools," said Archil Mestvirishvili.

"For the European Business Association, it is very important, that we can have public-private dialogues with all the Government instances and the National Bank of Georgia is very important for that. Our businesses get confidence and the confidence they get by getting this presentation to see, that the people of the National Bank are explaining everything and that everything goes in the good direction, that the National Bank has the currency under control," said EBA Chairman John Braeckeveldt.
