Koba Gvenetadze Hosts Working Meeting with Government's Economic Team
The country’s economic stance in the light of the global healthcare crisis - Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, invited Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance, to the Bank’s head office today to discuss the topic.
The meeting, also attended by representatives of the National Bank and the Ministries of Economic profile, focused on the impact of the global healthcare crisis and talked about high inflation, a major challenge for the world this year. The participants of the meeting reviewed the recently published document of the International Monetary Fund’s Assessment Program. Among other issues, the document discusses potential risks stemming from the high dollarization for the stability of the financial system. The participants of the meeting also talked about the key parameters of the draft budget for 2022 submitted to the Parliament.
The discussion also covered the launch of a new program supported by the International Monetary Fund. The parties stressed the importance of the program for the continuation of the reforms, to allow the country to successfully cope with underlying challenges and return to the pre-pandemic situation as quickly and efficiently as possible.
