IMF Seminar to be Held in Gudauri

On June 4-5, an IMF Seminar will be held for the Georgian MP’s, where the National Bank President Roman Gotsiridze will participate. The main topic of the seminar will be: “Georgia: Fiscal and Monetary Policy and Poverty Reduction Issues”. The seminar will be opened by Parliament Chairlady Nino Burjanadze. Fiscal and monetary reforms and the implementation of the poverty reduction program will be discussed at the meeting. The second day of the seminar will be devoted to the monetary policy issues for Georgia. Fiscal policy will be reviewed in the presentation of Robert Christiansen, IMF Resident Representative in Georgia. Julian Berengaut, Deputy Director of IMF Middle East and Asia Department, and Van Roy Southworth, World Bank Resident Representative in Georgia, will discuss the poverty reduction strategies. The role, functions and strategies of the IMF will be reviewed in detail by the IMF advisor Robert Russel.
