Governor Gvenetadze Meets with Members of the American Chamber of Commerce
Governor of the National Bank of Georgia was pleased to take part in the roundtable discussion organized by the American Chamber of Commerce. At the meeting, Koba Gvenetadze made a presentation on the economic situation and briefed the representatives of the member companies of the American Chamber of Commerce on the recent macroeconomic trends and the NBG reforms.
Noting that inflation is a global challenge, the Georgian central bank leader spoke about the international factors that affect inflation. "While the world was still coping with pandemic-related supply chain issues and the supply-demand imbalance, the current war has further hampered supply chains and deepened the supply-demand imbalance in the international market. The full-scale war instigated by Russia in Ukraine has caused problems in the global supply chain and a sharp rise in food and oil prices in international markets. Naturally, this situation affects Georgia as well. In our estimates, in other equal conditions, the inflation rate will gradually decline and will return to the target in 2023," - said Koba Gvenetadze.
The NBG Governor spoke in detail about the financial sector reforms, serving to contribute to the stable and efficient functioning of the financial system and greater protection of the rights of consumers and investors. After the presentation, Koba Gvenetadze answered the questions of the participants.
