Georgia’s banking sector celebrated Banker’s day by a large-scale cleaning action

Employees of NBG, Bank association and commercial bank participated in cleaning activity to celebrate their professional day. The action was held in different regions of Georgia (Adjara, Kakheti, Imereti, Samegrelo, Shida Kartli,Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Guria,Mtskheta-Mtianeti) and up to 2000 employees of the sector took part in it.

“We matched the event with banker’s day and with this event we want to appeal to the sector members and ask them to actively participate in such events and contribute to environment protection campaign” – stated executive director of NBG Giorgi Melashvili.

Banker’s day is celebrated in Georgia since 2001. Banker’s day was introduced to celebrate 140 years anniversary of first Georgian bank “satavadaznauro bank” and 177th anniversary of Ilia Chavchavadze, the founder and first Head of the bank.
