Five Foreign Companies Expressed their Wish to Participate in the Tender for the Design of 200 Lari Denomination Banknote

Deadline for the tender announced by the National Bank of Georgia for revealing the best sketch expires on September 20. It was for the first time in the history of Georgia that foreigners together with Georgian artists-designers took part in the tender. Sketches made by the companies from Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria and Germany as well as by Georgian designers have already been submitted. German and Austrian Mints also showed interest in participating in the tender. Sketches from them are expected to be received by the National Bank of Georgia in the near future.
The National Bank of Georgia offered the Mints of Europe, Asia and the USA to participate in the tender. Among them are such well-known companies, which print USD, EUR, GBP and other banknotes.
The obverse of the 200 Lari denomination banknote should feature the portrait of the renowned public figure Niko Nikoladze and the reverse – views of Sukhumi. The results of the tender will be known on September 20, at 4.p.m.
