Tourism, being one of the most important sectors of the Georgian economy, showed a rapidly growing trend before the Covid-19 pandemic. The National Bank of Georgia publishes the statistics on the expenditures of foreign visitors to Georgia each quarter in the Balance of Payments report. Based on the importance of the matter and given the great interest towards it, the National Bank of Georgia starts publishing preliminary statistics on income from foreign travel on a monthly basis.

 

Income from foreign travel in October 2021 was USD 142.3 million, an annual increase of USD 127.1 million (9.4 times), and USD 124.6 million (-46.7 percent) less than in October 2019. In October of this year, 15.5 percent of income (USD 22.0 million) came from the EU countries. Russia (USD 18.3 million), Israel (USD 15.5 million), Turkey (USD 14.8 million), Ukraine (USD 14.5 million) and Saudi Arabia (USD 9.5 million) also hold significant shares.
