Ekaterine Mikabadze Participates in IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings

Ekaterine Mikabadze, Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, attended the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.


During her visit, Mikabadze met with IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li, Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department Jihad Azour, and IMF Mission Head Alejandro Hajdenberg. Additional meetings were conducted with credit rating agencies and potential investors.


The discussions centered on Georgia’s macroeconomic conditions, with a strong emphasis on the country’s monetary and fiscal stability. Participants highlighted that Georgia’s inflation rate remains low, underscoring the National Bank of Georgia’s consistent monetary policies aimed at ensuring price stability. Broader topics included current global and regional challenges.


The Georgian delegation also included Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze and Tamta Sopromadze, Deputy Head of the NBG’s Macroeconomics and Statistics Department.


The IMF and World Bank annual meetings, held from October 21-26, brought together senior IMF and World Bank officials, along with economic teams from nearly every country worldwide.
