Total volume of deposits in the country’s banking sector (including term deposits and current accounts of non-financial and households sectors, including payable interest) decreased by 0.3 percent or 12.6 million GEL compared with the  February 1, 2011, and constituted 4.8 billion GEL by March 1, 2011. In February, compared to the previous month, the volume of transferable deposits of non-financial and households’ sectors increased by 1.5 million GEL (0.1 percent) and term deposits of same sectors decreased by 14.2 million GEL (0.5 percent).

The dollarization ratio of deposits constituted 72.3 percent by March 1, 2011. Compared with the February 1, 2011 it decreased by 0.4 percentage points.

The annual average weighted interest rate on term deposits constituted 8.3 percent. In particular, the interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 11.4 percent and the interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits 7.9 percent.

The share of US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals to 71.6 percent and the share of Euro equals to 18.8 percent.
