Total volume of deposits in the country’s banking sector (including term deposits and current accounts of non-financial and households sectors, including payable interest) increased by 0.2 percent or 10.1 million GEL compared with the July 1, 2011, and constituted  5.0 billion GEL by August 1, 2011. In July, compared to the previous month, the volume of transferable deposits of non-financial and households’ sectors increased by 4.2 million GEL (0.2 percent) and term deposits of same sectors decreased by 18.0 million GEL (0.6 percent).

The dollarization ratio of deposits constituted 67.7 percent by August 1, 2011. Compared with the July 1, 2011 it decreased by 2.4 percentage points.

The annual average weighted interest rate on term deposits constituted 8.3 percent. In particular, the interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 11.7 percent and the interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits 7.8 percent.

The share of US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals to 74.2 percent and the share of Euro equals to 19.7 percent.
