Archil Mestvirishvili, Acting Governor and Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, took part in the panel discussion organized by the Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI).

Archil Mestvirishvili spoke extensively about the steps taken by the National Bank of Georgia, long-term economic growth and economic trends in the country.

"We sat down with our colleagues, representatives of the World Bank, the private sector and the media, to talk about the long-term growth prospects of the national economy and the reforms necessary to achieve this goal, including the policies and future plans of the National Bank of Georgia. Long-term stable economic growth is very important for the country, and the role of the NBG in this process is fostering stability, capital market development and availability of a variety of saving tools. Access to financial resources is also necessary, both in terms of loans and means of payment. We have implemented many projects to enhance financial education and plan more projects for the future. The National Bank of Georgia is committed to helping companies better manage financial risks, including foreign exchange risks. The Association of Financial Markets Treasuries has been established, and its functions will include series of training, which will involve both the financial sector and companies. It is also worth noting that commercial banks are introducing new IT systems that will help them offer more flexible tools to companies that help in hedging risks," Archil Mestvirishvili said.

World Bank senior economist Mariam Dolidze, Anna Tskhovrebova, chief editor of Formula business editorial, and Lasha Kavtaradze, head of Galt & Taggart's macroeconomic analysis and forecasting, participated in the panel discussion.
