From May 27 to 29, Tbilisi will host a major international conference, organized by the Microfinance Centre (MFC) with the support of the National Bank of Georgia.

The event marks the 27th Annual International Conference of the MFC and will focus on the theme: “Shifts, Shocks, and Solutions: Microfinance in the Shadow of Geopolitics.”

This is the largest gathering dedicated to inclusive finance in Europe and Central Asia, bringing together more than 400 delegates from over 35 countries, including Poland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Belgium, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan, Germany, Romania, India, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, the United Arab Emirates, and many others.

Participants will include representatives from financial institutions, investment funds, regulatory bodies, policymakers, and companies driving innovation in social finance.

The conference aims to explore new opportunities for expanding access to inclusive finance, especially in light of today’s geopolitical tensions and climate challenges. Special attention will be given to the needs of micro and family-run businesses, as well as vulnerable groups such as women, youth, migrants, and rural communities.

This year’s event also forms part of the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the Georgian lari. In collaboration with the National Bank of Georgia, the conference will feature joint activities designed to foster deeper international dialogue and cooperation.

The event will be officially opened by Natia Turnava, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia.

The Microfinance Centre (MFC) is an international network of 140 member organizations from 36 countries across Europe and Central Asia. Serving more than 2 million low-income clients, MFC champions responsible, inclusive, and sustainable finance through advocacy, capacity building, digital transformation, green finance, and the promotion of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles.
