World Consumer Rights Day: Marked for the Second Time This Year

15 March, 2022

The National Bank of Georgia, in partnership with its financial education web portal www.finedu.gov.ge and with the involvement of the financial and insurance sectors of Georgia, is pleased to mark the World Consumer Rights Day on March 15.

Designed to raise awareness among consumers in various fields about their rights, this date has been celebrated in different countries of the world since 1983.

Last year the National Bank of Georgia was eager to initiate a campaign to honor the World Consumer Rights Day, with the involvement of the Georgian financial sector, and make it an annual event.

The Consumer Rights Week involved a number of engaging projects and events, including those carried out by the banking and insurance sectors. Similar to the last year, this year's slogan of the information campaign is "Know your rights - be protected".

As the regulator of the country’s financial sector, the NBG uses its mandate and competence to honor this day. Protecting the rights of consumers in the financial sector of Georgia is one of the priority areas of the National Bank of Georgia. For this reason, the Consumer Rights Protection Division was established in 2011 with the aim of protecting the rights of consumers in the financial sector and monitoring the implementation of legislative requirements for the financial sector.

The Central Bank of the country has implemented a number of projects and activities in this regard in recent years. These included the development and improvement of the regulatory framework, and introduction of systemized format of customer relations. In addition, the National Bank of Georgia was pleased to offer the public an educational platform -www.finedu.gov.ge, to provide consumers with impartial information in harmony with the applicable legislation.
