30 May, 2005
Roman Gotsiridze, President of the National Bank of Georgia, received a letter from Andrey Kostin, president and chairman of the Russian Vneshtorgbank. The letter denies the accusations spread in the media regarding the cooperation of Vneshtorgbank with the commercial organizations and financial institutions in Abkhazia. The illegal activity of the large Russian bank Vneshtorgbank in Abkhazia was discussed also in the Parliament. The Parliament Members asked Roman Gotsiridze to study the situation. All activities of Vneshtorgbank in Georgia are carried out in full consistence with the Georgian legislation. No investments deals, either independently or jointly, are being made by Vneshtorgbank with the Abkhazian authorities, says the Russian bank president in the letter.
