Vice Governor Papuna Lezhava Discusses Financial Technologies and Digital GEL at the Banking Forum
Papuna Lezhana, Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia participated in the Banking Forum organized by THE FINANCIAL.
The Future of Banking Forum focused on the future of banking services, challenges and opportunities in the banking sector, and digital technologies.
Vice Governor Lezhava spoke about banking regulations and digital technologies at the event, focusing on the challenges in the financial sector, the development of digital technologies and the future of the banking sector. Papuna Lezhava also spoke in detail about the actions taken by the National Bank of Georgia, noting that the NBG has taken a number of successful steps to promote new technologies and develop the Fintech ecosystem. The work is currently underway on Fintech infrastructure projects such as Open Banking, Instant Payments, Digital Lari, and Digital Banking.
"The National Bank of Georgia diligently cares for the development of the financial market. The development of digital technologies has shown the need for central bank money development and the creation of a digital version of the lari to better adapt to the digital economy and boost the effectiveness of economic policies. With digital lari, our desire is to create a new, comfortable payment method adapted to modern technologies", said the Vice Governor of the NBG.
Every year, the event brings together representatives of the banking sector, public and non-governmental sector and business to discuss and improve banking services, cybersecurity and customer-centricity.
