Varlam Ebanoidze Participates in International Forum in China
Varlam Ebanoidze, Head of the Financial and Supervisory Technology Development Department at the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), delivered a keynote speech at the "Financial Street Forum 2024: Fintech Bridging the Digital Divide" held in China.
In his presentation, Ebanoidze discussed Georgia's "open policy" strategy for financial technologies and its role in accelerating economic growth across countries along the Middle Corridor. “Georgia aims to foster innovation in the financial sector by implementing supervisory frameworks and proactive policies. Our goal is to promote technological innovation through the early adoption of new technologies and position Georgia as a fintech hub in the Middle Corridor region," said Ebanoidze.
"Financial Street Forum 2024" focused on exploring the role of fintech in bridging the global digital divide and the impact of technology on increasing financial inclusion.
Alongside Ebanoidze, other prominent speakers included the Presidents of Ant Financial and Alipay Group, as well as senior leaders from the Central Bank of China and major financial institutions.
Varlam Ebanoidze attended the forum at the invitation of China's leading payment system, Alipay. Notably, future collaboration between Alipay and the Georgian financial market was discussed, with plans to explore regional opportunities.
