The President of the National Bank of Georgia Met with the Officials of Commercial Banks

The President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze discussed a four-year  development strategy of the banking system in Georgia during the meeting with the officials of commercial banks and  the Association of Banks of Georgia.   The National Bank of Georgia will complete  its work on the document in the near future.   Legislative changes, promoting the development of  the banking system and attraction of foreign investments into this sector, were discussed at the meeting. The part of these changes have already been submitted to the parliament on the initiative of the National Bank of Georgia. Georgian government continuous working in this regard that will accelerate the development of the financial sector in the country.   The President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze familiarized the officials of commercial banks with the basic trends of monetary and exchange rate policies. Novelties expected in the banking supervision were also discussed at the meeting.   It was mentioned that statistical data reflecting the activity of the banking sector in Georgia will be published within the next few days.  Based on these indicators it is possible to draw an advance conclusion that the banking sector in Georgia compared to other countries was developing rapidly last year.
