The Portrait of Kaikhosro (Kakutsa) Cholokashvili, a National Hero of Georgia, will be Featured on the 200 Lari Banknote

By the decision of the Money Committee of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) the portrait of the national hero, Kaikhosro (Kakutsa) Choklokashvili will be featured on the 200 Lari banknote.
On one side of the 200 Lari banknote a view of conquered Sukhumi will be depicted and on the other side – the national hero of Georgia, who fought against the conquerors. Both images respond to present-day problems”- noted the President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze. According to him “a monetary unit reflects culture and history or other achievements and goals of a country. Kakutsa Cholokashvili is one of the most relevant symbols of the recent history of Georgia.
The Money Committee of the National Bank of Georgia arrived at the decision to issue the 200 Lari banknote the obverse and reverse of which will feature the portrait of Kaikhosro (Kakutsa) Cholokashvili and a view of Sukhumi, respectively. Working process on the design of the banknote will be completed by end - November.
According to the NBG decision issuance of commemorative and jubilee coins is envisaged. The coins will feature Georgian public figures, statesmen and representatives of culture and science. It was decided to issue 200 Lari denomination gold coin where the portrait of a great public figure Niko Nikoladze will be depicted.
