With the aim of increasing predictability for the financial sector regarding future measures and providing stakeholders with access to information on supervisory priorities and plans, the National Bank of Georgia publishes 2026-2028 Supervisory Strategy document. The document is available on the National Bank’s website.

The development process of the 2026-2028 Supervisory Strategy was carried out with the active involvement of the sector and other stakeholders. To ensure such involvement, at the first stage, a questionnaire was published, which made a significant contribution to the formation of the National Bank’s supervisory priorities and the action plan. At the next stage, the draft of 2026-2028 Supervisory Strategy was published for public consultation, within which feedback, initiatives and recommendations were received from stakeholders.

Taking into account the analysis of the best international practices and current trends, needs identified in the supervisory process, and recommendations received from both international partners and stakeholders through consultations, the National Bank of Georgia has defined the following supervisory priorities for 2026-2028:

  • Alignment with the best international practices and standards;
  • Strengthening the risk management framework for the sustainable functioning of the financial sector;
  • Development of financial innovations, promotion of competition and consumer rights protection;
  • Development of the securities market;
  • Enhancement of forward-looking supervision and fostering inclusivity.

The 2026-2028 Supervisory Strategy outlines the activities planned within the supervisory priorities and the relevant action plan, as well as the milestones of 2025 and a report on the implementation of the Strategy during the past year.
