The National Bank of Georgia will award Georgian champions of the Olympic Games with gold coins dedicated to the summer Olympic Games to be held in Beijing
Presentation of the Georgian Olympic gold and silver coins "the Olympic - Beijing 2008" was held today at the Georgian Olympic museum. The coins were minted at the Dutch Royal mint under the order of the National Bank of Georgia. The total mintage numbers are as follows gold -1000 pieces and 1500 pieces -silver.
The presentation was attended by the acting president of the National Bank of Georgia Mr. David Amaglobeli, the Acting President of the National Olympic committee Mr. Gogi Topadze, other responsible people of the National Bank of Georgia and the Olympic committee as well as Georgian Olympic team members and the veteran Olympians.
The acting president of the National Bank of Georgia Mr. David Amaglobeli wished the Georgian Olympians remarkable performance and promised to award the gold medalist with the gold coins and the silver and bronze winners with the silver coins respectively. "I believe Georgian sportsmen will once again fame our country and will return home decorated with medals. To show our modest recognition to their hard work and straggle we decided to give those coins to winners as gifts- said Mr.david Amaglobeli, the acting president of the National Bank of Georgia.
The coins dedicated to the Summer Olympic Games to be held in Beijing will be available not only in Georgia but abroad as well. We believe that the initiative of the National Bank of Georgia will further promote and contribute to the awareness campaign of the people around the world of Georgian as the country of rich Olympic traditions- he added.
At the end of the presentation Mr.david Amaglobeli, the acting present of the National Bank of Georgia has gifted the gold and silver coins "Olympiada-Beijing 2008" to the National Olympic committee.
