The National Bank of Georgia Launches a Pilot Project for an A.I. Sandbox within its Regulatory Laboratory

09 June, 2025

To support innovation in the financial sector, the National Bank of Georgia is launching a new pilot project - the A.I. Sandbox - within its Regulatory Laboratory. The project aims to facilitate the safe integration of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), into Georgia’s financial and banking sectors.

The initiative provides a trusted, controlled, and regulated environment where companies will have the opportunity to test and develop technological solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of financial services.

Entities interested in introducing advanced technological solutions in the financial sector, as well as companies capable of developing and providing such solutions, are eligible to participate in the pilot initiative. Applications will be accepted through October 10, 2025.

Under the supervision of the National Bank, sandbox participants will work on the development of new ideas and initiatives. Following the preparation and analysis of proposed concepts, their gradual testing will be carried out within a regulated, trusted, and controlled environment.

The primary goal of the project is to foster innovation and technology, establish a safe and regulated environment, and create new opportunities while enhancing customer-centric services.

For the National Bank of Georgia, it is a priority to foster an ecosystem that balances technological advancement, financial stability, and the protection of consumer interests. The Bank recognizes that the integration of artificial intelligence and other innovative technologies into the banking and financial sectors is an irreversible process. Therefore, its objective is to ensure that this transformation unfolds within a regulated, secure, and customer-centric framework. The A.I. Sandbox represents a significant step toward this goal, bringing Georgia closer to the development of a forward-looking, technologically empowered financial system.
