The world-recognized standard of information security management, ISO 27001 for the third time now: the National Bank of Georgia has passed the certification for ISO 27001, the international information security standard.

The National Bank of Georgia has spent multiple years working to meet the international standard for information security management and to upgrade current systems accordingly. Access to information, confidentiality and integrity are important guiding principles of the NBG’s work.

The audit of the National Bank of Georgia's information security management system, conducted to ascertain the compliance with the international standard, involved both Georgian and international companies. The certificate was issued by the German certification agency TUV SUD Management Service GmbH.

"Compliance with the ISO 27001 standard is important for the National Bank and the development of the financial sector as a whole. In previous years, this certificate was issued to the National Bank for meeting the requirements of the standard that was introduced for specific systems only. This year, as the scope has expanded, it now encompasses all organizational units of the National Bank. Consequently, almost all operational units of the National Bank were involved in the certification and the related audit process. The purpose of the audit was to assess the compliance of the current information security management system with the requirements of the ISO 27001 standard,” said Vakhtang Burkiashvili, Executive Director of the National Bank.

“The Management Systems consulting company has a 7-year history of cooperation with the National Bank of Georgia. In cooperation with local counterparts, the international consultants of TUV SUD Management Service GmbH implement DIN EN ISO/IEC 27001: 2017 information security management system, and conduct applicable control and certification audits. We are pleased that our successful bilateral cooperation contributes to adhering to the principles of the accessibility, confidentiality and integrity of information at the National Bank. We note that this is another step forward towards the development of  the National Bank and the country’s financial sector as a whole," said Elguja Meladze, Director of Management Systems.
