The National Bank of Georgia Has Worked out a Strategic Document for the Development of the Georgian Banking System

The National Bank of Georgia has worked out an important document, which outlines the strategic directions of the development of the Georgian banking system for the years of 2006-2009. Presentation of the document will be held on April 18, at 11 a.m. at the National Bank of Georgia.   The Council of the National Bank of Georgia has recently adopted the Strategy of Georgian Banking System’s Development  for the years of 2006-2009.   According to the strategy the main goal of the medium-term outlook for the National Bank of Georgia is to eliminate gradually the existing problems, strengthen the stability and  efficiency of the banking system  under the competitive market environment and achieve the dynamic growth of the banking sector,  thus  increasing  its role in the country’s economy”.   Georgia’s banking system will be protected from any kind of negative macroeconomic shocks, both internal and external, if all tendencies and parameters set forth in the strategic document of the National Bank of Georgia are fulfilled. As a result the public trust in the banking sector will increase. It will promote the accumulation of savings of the population in banks and their channeling into investments.   According to the President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze working out and adoption of the strategic document for the development of banking system are aimed at creating a banking sector, which offers a universal package of services to its clients.
